I had actual thoughts on this episode, but they all got blitzed away by the following:
- WHAT THE FUCK WERE THOSE 'IRISH' ACCENTS
- The Evil Guy who picked up Mohinder this time is played by... that guy! I love that guy! I also love that Mohinder has obviously been coached by Bennet to own his unfailing ability to get hit on by evil. MAYBE THAT'S HIS POWER?
- ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME. CORK????
- I bet creepy flying kid is Nathanspawn, and the writers are just creating more Claire-centric Petrellicest to fuck with us.
- AUUUUUUGH LEAVE MY COUNTRY OUT OF YOUR SPECIAL, "ACCURATELY DEPICTED" REALITY.
- Melted!Peter in the mirror still had his emobang. That's fucking hilarious.
- WHY GOD WHY CORK.
- Maya and Alejandro! There is potential awesome here, esp. Maya who is a powered woman of colour, not just a pointless love interest, and also religious, which I think is cool because... we really haven't seen that in the show yet. And hopefully now we've got the obligatory threat of sexual attack out of the way, there is... potential for awesome. Yes. Also: Alejandro = another main character without powers? He and Ando can be Normal Buddies!
- FUCK THAT "IRELAND" SHIT. Oh god, Peter had better be on a ferry to somewhere else by the next episode, because - can you tell? - this may be something that might possibly set my Oirish Senses tingling.
- What everyone else has said: Nathan's beard! Molly has two daddies! ILU CLAIRE AND ALSO MATT. Unsure about making Great Japanese Hero Kensei a white man, but does it balance out by having him be an asshole? But at the same time it is like 'Nobody of [x] race can possibly achieve true greatness in [x] culture! Possibly unless he has a small adorable companion of [x] race to reform him!'. Hmmmmm. What is the point of the whole thing anyway? Is it so the white viewership will have someone to latch onto in a subplot that is otherwise filled only with Japanese characters? Boo. Not many satisfactory ways this plot can pan out, on first glance. Because... Hiro becoming The Kensei Of Myth And Legend is... lame. My vote for Becoming Kensei is the swordsmith's daughter, based on the way she was all, SCREW YOU GUYS I AM TAKING THE SWORD AND GOING TO RESCUE MY FATHER. BOYS HAVE COOTIES.
- The first fiddle-and-bodhrán I hear, this laptop is going through the window.
