There's a paper I need. REALLY need. The volume of the Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy in which it lives is missing from the library; the Royal Irish Academy is not offering said volume for sale on their website, and the library section of their website is down. A UK bookseller is offering an offprint of the paper for £11.55 + £3.90 shipping (nearly €22, or $32, for chrissakes), to arrive in... 5-10 days, the same amount of time it would take to get an inter-library loan from UCD, which is NOT FAST ENOUGH. And the only other place I can think of that might have it is the collection in the Classics department... in the Arts Block, which for no discernible reason, is closed today.

And it's raining outside.

Badger the librarians to find it for you—maybe it's been misshelved or is being repaired? If not, get an ALCID card from them, or a letter of introduction if the ALCID card will take too long to get, and go into the UCD library yourself. It'll save you a lot of time; you won't be able to borrow the periodical, but you'll be able to photocopy it at least.

Or, oh, get a reader's ticket for the National Library?

They won't do inter-library loans for UCD - anywhere in Dublin, student must travel. Get yourself a letter of introduction from the duty librarian and pop out to UCD.
