Okay, Dublin peeps, I know there are a few of you out there on my flist. If you have been keeping up with the events unfolding in Iran - the election fraud, the demonstrations, and the firestorm of violence - there is a protest planned: Thursday 18th June, 2pm-4pm, outside the Iranian embassy, 72 Mount Merrion Ave.

Please come if you can, and please get the word out regardless. Ireland is not as wired a country as we'd like to think we are, and every little helps. If you're not in Dublin, but know people who are - or have Dubliners on your flist, as friends on Facebook, Bebo, Myspace, Twitter, wherever - please let them know that this is happening.

And if you haven't been following what's going down in Iran? You should be.

Do you know if there's going to be any protests over in the US?

Well, I know there have already been a bunch, and there are definitely more to come. For starters, check http://iran.whyweprotest.net/ and http://www.whereismyvote.org/ - failing that, try searching '[your city] protest' on Twitter, which IMO is likely to turn something up.

Do you think it might be a good idea to make a 'supporting Tehran' layout for LJ if nobody has already? Updating from a newsfeed if there is one, or a way to just show your support if you can't do anything else.

A bunch of people on ontd_p, at least, have already switched to various of LJ's green-themed layouts, so I'm sure people would use it if there was one. Like you said, it's not much - but sometimes there isn't much you can do except show your support.

Yeah. :/ It's just, I want them to know that there are people out there, everywhere, trying their best to show that we'll do whatever we can do.

I'll work on it tomorrow and get it done quick. I don't know how to spread it, though, and you're more in the communications for this than I am - once I have the code, could I possibly hand you a link to it?

How did it go? Sorry I could not make it. My back decidesto fuck up at the worst og times. :(

Not too badly. We got a decent showing; we were kind of crammed along the pavement, so it was hard to get a count, but I'd say about 30 people or so? Which doesn't sound like many, but... it's Ireland. I was expecting about a half-dozen. Crowd was largely Iranian, but there was a smattering of Irish people hanging about, along with cars beeping, a couple of news cameras/radio interviewers/etc.
