Jesus god.

Mum and sister left about an hour ago for their hideously early flight to Portugal, where they will be spending the next two weeks, so I am on my own in the house tonight.

There are enough people in the household that this is a fairly rare occurrence, but as it's a Saturday night, my dad is AWOL somewhere until... sometime tomorrow, and my grandmother is visiting with my uncle and aunt. And (because my dad is leaving for a week in France on Tuesday, and I have no means of getting heavy dogfood around) the dog is in the kennels.

Now, it's a big house, and pretty old, so it's prone to making a lot of disembodied sounds and creaky, groany noises - but I've lived here all my life, and I could probably tell you what most of these sounds are by ear.

So it's a pretty unpleasant shock, at about 3am, on my own in the house, to hear a new one.

Eventually (with a Blunt Object in hand) I determined it to be the combination of a heavy shower hitting the new, diagonal-leaning attic windows dead on, and there not being any other sound at all to muffle it.

*breathes*

So retarded. But then, irrational fear of familiar things like my side passage at night and a homeless man who comes to the door every Sunday is one of the things that made the head-doctor go O HAI ANXIETY PROBLEMS.

And lksjdflsdjf tomorrow is Sunday and if said glassy-eyed and leering homeless man comes when nobody else is home and rings my doorbell and stands there for an hour without going away and then crosses the street to watch the house like he always does and oh god it's so creepy I will cry.
