sophistry: ([Misc] pretty pretty princess)
Today, inbetween handing in a draft of the second chapter of Princess Arjumand (first in the department again! :O!) and meeting with dissertation supervisor for feedbacky stuff, I went to see St. Trinian's. And... it was fun! Okay, it would have helped if many of the girls were, you know, better actors, but that's not really the point. It was cute and punchy and made me feel all girl-power-y even if I have severely mixed feelings about raunch culture and had Stephen Fry and RUPERT-EVERETT-IN-DRAG/COLIN FIRTH and they SANG AN IN-CHARACTER DUET OF LOVE IS IN THE AIR DURING THE END CREDITS and Gemma Arterton is hot like FIRE and I even didn't hate Russell Brand the entire time he was onscreen, which has never happened before.

I feel a little ashamed, but a little... not. :D

And then I went and bought Ellen Kushner's Privilege of the Sword and fell in love within the first ten pages.
