sophistry: ([PotC] riders on the storm)
This lifted my mood today, so here, have an aurgasm:

Yo-Yo Ma plays Ennio Morricone - 'Ecstasy of Gold' (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)

YEAH. I could describe what this track does to me around the two-and-a-half minute mark, but I think it might be TMI. Mmmnnngh.

I had scheduled a Pyjama Day today, but I have a few things I've been meaning to pick up in the supermarket - and with the sun tentatively peeping out from behind the clouds, the thought of finishing the current Aubrey/Maturin tome (Desolation Island) from a comfy seafront-overlook couch at Starbucks is sort of appealing. The downside: having to make self fit for public display. Hmmm. We will see how motivated I am feeling once my hair is dry.

sophistry: ([Maturin] the good doctor's books)
I have spiced rum, I have The Fortune of War, I did not get rained on, and there is still enough of the day left to spend back in pyjamas enjoying the second (and later, the first) for me to feel tolerably decadent. Today is exempted from February's general on-notice-...ness.

(I made my current pair of M&C icons so far back in the day, it's quite painfully obvious. I feel I require some new ones, but I am currently too lazy for the photoshops. Anyone have any good sources?)

sophistry: ([Aubreyad] Surprise is on our side)
I spam before I nap.

Reasons Why I Love My Dad, Despite Everything:

1) He is generally in favour of widescreen-surround-sound Master & Commander rewatches;

2) When my sister questions why they would leave thirteen year-old Mr. Blakeney in charge of the Surprise, he replies without a second's hesitation, "Because he can do it single-handedly!";

3) After spending two hours and two consecutive episodes of America's Next Top Model loudly protesting both the sister's commandeering of the remotes and the general quality of the tripe on tv today, as she and I are chattering during the second elimination, he is all, NO SHUT UP, I WANT TO FIND OUT WHO GETS SENT HOME, I BET IT'S THAT BLONDE ONE, I DON'T LIKE HER. (He was right.)
