sophistry: ([Aubreyad] Surprise is on our side)
Things that make me happy:

- Seeing a car drive out of the school down the road from my house with an OBAMA '08 sticker on the bumper;

- The Trinity Juggling Society is advertising with a poster featuring a cat photoshop!juggling; it is captioned 'CAN HAS SKILLZ?';

- When I got off the train on the way home, wrapped warm in my new coat, the sun was shining and there was a particularly charming breeze coming in off the sea. I nipped over the wall onto the old stone promenade that still lines parts of the beach, and found myself a nice sunlit spot. Well, alright - at first the place I was eyeing was occupied by a family intent on taking pictures with their uncooperative labrador named Molly; I would have gone down further, to where the crumbling remains of an old pier jut out a little way (far enough to also catch the sun), but you cannot get there anymore without you go over some devilishly slippery rocks, and the tide was right in. Also, new coat. But I did get my nook eventually, after a few minutes of patient lurking. I spent perhaps half an hour there before the clouds scudded in, in the company of a can of coke, HMS Surprise, and the sound of the sea, trickling in amongst the rocks and breaking gently on the walls of the old public baths.

Divine.

I can't abide the beach - sand drives me absolutely around the bend - but the sea, the sea, god how I love the sea.
