I am getting seriously excited about the prospect of a new room. It's going to be a battle against my mother every step of the way, in terms of being allowed some autonomy in terms of furniture and decor, but since

a) it's the attic, and will be totally out of the way of anyone else, and

b) I've been stuck in the north-facing box room for the last seven years,

I think I'm due a little freedom of choice. Plus which, I think having a whole new space for me, that I can really make my own and decorate in a way that makes me go :D! whenever I step inside - I think that'd be a really good thing. At the moment, my watchword is: kdsjhfdsCOLOURyay. Mostly because my box room is white. And beige. And, you know, I have nothing particularly against white and beige, but... I'm a very visual person, and I really get a huge kick out of bright colours and shinies and sparklies (see: Ouran). They make me excited and bouncy and generally, um, wearing an expression not dissimilar to this icon here.

Anyway.

YAY.

YES. At least, it's made a huge difference for me. And yeah, I had the War Against White-and-Beige too - and I only went as far as browns and blues and greens, but it feels so much better! More home, less institution. Even though there was nothing really wrong with it before.
