(no subject)

Got an approval for a subject area for undergrad thesis next year.

Romans in Ireland, baby.

Main decision to make: to study (some aspect of) the Roman presence in Ireland itself, or to look at the way in which said presence (or lack thereof) has been studied/approached in the past. Metarchaeology, if you will. Since it is teh political, and all.

Also discussion of special subject choices for next year. I know what my first choice is, but my second is giving me some trouble. Theoretical - and, uh, experimental - course on Anthropology & the Greeks (involving, for srs, psychoanalysis of Greek mythology!!!!!!! Oedipus Rex!!!!!!!! Black Athena and the politics of race!!!!!!!! rites of passage!!!!!!!! the cross-cultural study of emotion and the nature of belief!!!!!!!! anthropology of the senses, the body, and the self!!!!!!!) versus a course on the Jews in Egypt, which is s;dlkfjsdf a cross-faculty orgy with the Biblical Studies folken BIBLE BIBLE HISTORY BIBLE INTERESTING *_*, but is very heavily literary/papyri-based. And I tend to get a bit antsy and restless if there is not enough Stuff From The Ground to balance things out.

*angsts*
