(no subject)

I'm feeling a bit rotten after my birthday, and semi-internet-exile, etc. Therefore, I think everyone should remind me why their friends - and by extension, humanity - are wonderful. Dance for me, monkeys. Also, pimp this. Seriously. These things suck if nobody shows up.

I think it is fairly safe to say that without [livejournal.com profile] schiarire I would have imploded under the weight of my own frustration weeks ago. She has an endless tolerance for emails that consist mostly of dot points about how stressful my life is.

Elle est un pilier de solidité! Or something expressed in better French.

Ji has taught me so much I don't think she realises. She makes me a better person just by being on my flist, and it blows me away.

Again with the "I have said it so many times ... I want to say something new and exciting." Um, how about: now that I am taking classes that are All About The Dead White Men, whenever I start thinking, "well, maybe I am being uptight and PC and stupid and pejoratively-liberal," I read one of Ji's posts about how guess what? Racism is still a problem, dumbass, phrased in her usual ridiculously eloquent prose, and I get the fuck over myself. And it's awesome.

I think Ji was born with the cool gene in. And that sounds lame. I wish I could say a lot more about her without sounding as if I failed an English course. But she's effortlessly cool without being shallow, she's honest, and she's down to earth.

Ji is hysterical and entirely too clever.

Ji manages, somehow, to effortlessly combine the intellectual and the... not. But the line blurs so much that it doesn't even matter. And I don't know how she listens to all my crap and still manages to get something cheering over to me EVERY TIME. And she's generous with the indie cred. And with the sharing of the couch. And with everything else. ♥
