This? This is, it must be said, a truly terrible trailer. Non-IC NARRATOR EXPLAINS IT ALL trailer voiceovers are always, without exception, made of suck. Why is there not more singing. Why the hell wouldn't you use a certain titular 'Ballad of' for a trailer. Why does it seem bizarrely overkill-y. Why was there no mention of the pies. THE PIES, DUDES. Where is my goddamn rocket car. Etc. Bad trailer.

And yet? I remain so excited for Sweeney Todd that I may well soil myself.

I have tried to make words, but I just ended up watching the trailer again.

I just. So demented, Holly. SO DEMENTED. 8->

I just don't know how it will work. I love all the individual actors, and the source material I just love to itty pieces ( I have a Sondheim problem). But until the very end of the trailer I was worried there would be hardly any singing.

I have a feeling they put as little singing in the trailer as they thought they could get away with - which, I understand trying to appeal to the, ah, fairly large demographic who might say, "A musical? I'm not going to see a musical!". But at the same time... the piece is practically an opera.

Right. It seemed there was about as much singing in the trailer as there was spoken dialogue in the stage Sweeney. I just worry that Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter won't be able to carry it all off musically.

I think they're going about it in the wrong way. True, the Public do not normally pay for musicals. But if they'd use the score, make the reaction 'this looks awesome! I don't even care that it's a musical! ' rather than 'oh, another spooky Depp-Burton collaboration. Wait, there's music/??'

*squints at trailer*

I love you Tim Burton, and I trust you. But, baby, WHERE'S THE SINGIN'?!

May be they'll let out a singin' trailer closer to the release date! I want to hear what they sound like! I've heard Johnny Depp sing before, and he does have a voice, but still. I want to hear it!

I wasn't even paying attention to the narrator. I was too busy adjusting to JACK SPARROW ACCENT WHAT.

I think I will be able to adjust to it when the film comes out, but when I first heard it in the trailer . . .
