everyone in college is on bebo. i ended up joining because there's some sort of group for the class and i was missing all sorts of important shit by not checking it. :/
it's crap, though: they say it's customizable, but it's only in the most minimal fashion possible. myspace is even worse, naturally. i hear facebook is okay, but... well, lj is the home of fandom (for now), so it'll always be my #1 social site.
I once got a Bebo account just to see what it's like... well, I'll have Facebook any day instead. (Actually, I quite like Facebook because it's nifty to keep in touch with people after your (or their) year abroad is over.)
Facebook is a sort of forced, premature high school reunion. All your friends are there! AND SO IS EVERYONE ELSE. It pains, but it's practically unstoppable.
