Are you fucking kidding me.

I just got summoned for jury duty. During the Christmas holidays. When I am supposed to be writing my dissertation.

If I don't get an extension for this, someone will lose an eye.

If you're in full-time education, you should be able to get a deferral on the jury service until you've finished. I did.

D: I have to go with what Kate said - there are circumstances that mean you just can't do it right now.

And Johnny says: court sucks.

I got summoned last year and just ignored it. I was living in Tipperary, and they wanted me, sans car, to get to Dublin for God knows how long? Methinks not. They really don't take nomadic archaeology lifestyles into account...

Yeah, i got summonsed to go this year in October, and i was going to have to be there for basically the whole of Freshers Week and possibly further weeks, which meant no registration for college.

I just wrote them a very 'polite' letter explaining the situation and got a letter back saying basically, ok we understand, college education is important, blah blah blah

There's loads of ways of getting around it.

I woudn't even bother. Just write on the end of the form that you're in college, they don't even bother checking
