*SCREAMS*
What is wrong with Firefox. It crashed the other day, and wouldn't restart, so I was all, ugh, dissertation chapter, no time to figure out what is wrong with it, I shall just use Flock instead. Which, you know, has tabs, and is compatible with most of my Firefox extensions, but I just. I hate it with a really fiery, irrational hate, and the Gmail checker doesn't work, and I hate it.
So anyway, now that I have time, I go to figure out what's wrong with Firefox. Start, select default profile, choose last session to restore with Session Manager extension... and wait. And wait. And wait. Nothing. Check task manager: Firefox is indeed running, somewhere, and consuming resources. End task.
Start, select default profile, choose a different, earlier session to restore with Session Manager... nothing. Check task manager: Firefox once again running. End stupid task. Start, select default profile, decline to restore a previous session... Nothing. Check task manager: Firefox? Running. Reboot. Try again. Nothing (but that's not what the task manager says). Run virus scan. Try again. Nothing (but that's not what the task manager says). Reinstall. Encounter error involving (trusted, non-virusy) .dll file. Eagerly google, employ suggested solution, finish reinstalling, try again. Nothing (but that's not what the task manager says).
The only way I can get it working is by using an ancient backup profile from 2005, which has none of my bookmarks, none of my extensions, etc, etc, etc. AND NOW I'M VERY. VERY. ANNOYED. If I was getting any kind of, I don't know, ERROR MESSAGE, instead of just NOTHING, I could figure out what to do, but no. You try googling for non-starting Firefox problems without including helpful error message specifics, and see how useful it is. Since I can use a different profile, the problem must be with my default one, but lskdjfsldfhsdkjf THAT'S WHERE ALL MY STUFF IS.
RAGE.
