I've spent the last few days in the kind of good mood that teeters on the edge of hysteria - smiling at people on the street, singing when there aren't any, laughing aloud on buses when I remember a particularly funny bit from an Aubrey/Maturin book and to side-splitting tears over dinner with the family and into the dark lying in bed because I'm just so damn happy, being astonished by how the perfect blue sky and the just-as-cold-as-I-like-it temperature are the best things I've ever seen, impulse purchases, etc. And, you know, it feels great at the time, obviously. But when you're careening along like that, you hit the eventual, inevitable brick wall really, really hard.
