In other news, saw In Bruges today, with
kessie. Verdict: absolute fucking genius. Though I'm not sure if it would be quite as hysterical to a non-Irish audience, since I know at least a good few of the laughs were partly coming from LOL SO TRUE. Also manages really well in going back and forth from hilarious (and DELICIOUSLY UN-PC) to some very dark and unfunny places - which, incidentally, also allow Colin Farrell to show off some real, honest-to-goodness acting chops. And of course, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes are fucking treasures as well. The ending conceit made me start to roll my eyes a little, but then it was TOTALLY SAVED by Ralph Fiennes just being AWESOME.
Basically, this is Pulp Fiction or Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang through a filter of Father Ted. If you like any of the above, run, don't walk, to see this film.
(Also, for Rome fans, this has CiarĂ¡n Hinds bleeding and dying from multiple entry wounds again, which is always a treat.)
