I am going to tell you guys something shameful. You may want to defriend me after this, and disavow all knowledge of me. Ready?
I love Tarzan. Not the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel. Not the 1984 Christopher Lambert movie. Disney's Tarzan. Yeah. I love it. IT REALLY GROWS ON YOU, OKAY. I love the 'shamelessly stolen from The Lion King' moments, I love damseled!Jane, I love the Phil Collins pop ballad soundtrack. I love it. But that's not the shameful part.
The first ten minutes? Make me cry. Every. single. time. And I'm not talking misting up, here, or a momentary lip-wobble. I'm talking, "Please don't let anyone come into the room right now because I will never live this down," big fat tears. I'm getting a little choked up right now, just thinking about it!
Okay, let's make this a meme. YOUR TURN. Tell me something horrendously lame about yourselves.

...We're not going to talk about the other day when I turned on the radio RIGHT at the beginning of "Welcome to the Black Parade".
And on the embarrassing crying front, I still can't not cry at the last 20 minutes or so of 2010.

Um, I'm almost 37, the mother of one, and spend most of my time either making, downloading or organizing stuff for The Sims 2, which I rarely actually PLAY. Also, roleplaying (currently, in two different games) the parts of a gay angel, an embittered ex-succubus and the son of a highly disreputable comic book character. *Hides*

But I just listen. And I look at the comments that are like OH THEY'RE JUST ANOTHER HIPSTER BAND WRITING SELF-INDULGENT SONGS ABOUT HOW DISCONNECTED AND ALONE THEY ARE.
And they make me want to cry. Because I listen to them -- and all the history that goes into making them who they are, sonically -- and I believe two things:
-- That rock and roll can save the world; and
-- that the world is worth saving.
And come on. It's just a band.

But I think it's the music, too - like, I don't visualize the scene or anything when I hear it. Just the tune is inherently sad enough or something for me!
