I am going to tell you guys something shameful. You may want to defriend me after this, and disavow all knowledge of me. Ready?

I love Tarzan. Not the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel. Not the 1984 Christopher Lambert movie. Disney's Tarzan. Yeah. I love it. IT REALLY GROWS ON YOU, OKAY. I love the 'shamelessly stolen from The Lion King' moments, I love damseled!Jane, I love the Phil Collins pop ballad soundtrack. I love it. But that's not the shameful part.

The first ten minutes? Make me cry. Every. single. time. And I'm not talking misting up, here, or a momentary lip-wobble. I'm talking, "Please don't let anyone come into the room right now because I will never live this down," big fat tears. I'm getting a little choked up right now, just thinking about it!

Okay, let's make this a meme. YOUR TURN. Tell me something horrendously lame about yourselves.

Right now I'm watching horrible reality shows on MTV, because Panic at the Disco is their artist of the week so all the commercials for their horrible reality shows are interspersed with snippets of Panic playing songs from Pretty. Odd.. Songs which I could just be listening to with the TV off. But but BANDOM ON MY TV.

...We're not going to talk about the other day when I turned on the radio RIGHT at the beginning of "Welcome to the Black Parade".

And on the embarrassing crying front, I still can't not cry at the last 20 minutes or so of 2010.

I watch America's Next Top Model, Big Brother, and Desperate Housewives.

*hides in shame*

My comfort books include the collected works of Father Andrew Greeley. Because nothing cheers me up like a semi-smutty romance novels written by a Catholic priest. My personal favorites are the Nuala Anne mysteries; the title character is the most awesomely blatant Mary Sue you'll ever meet, and embodies enough Irish stereotypes to make Sophie rip her own head off.

They are fabulously bad.

I watch Make Me A Supermodel. And I love it.

When my mother fell down the stairs and I didn't know how badly she was hurt, I had flashbacks to "The Body." Even at the time, I was thinking, This is ridiculous, it's supposed to go the other way around.

(Um, she's fine now.)

[identity profile] amberdiceless.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Aww. *Pats* I like it too! Though I don't actually tear up.

Um, I'm almost 37, the mother of one, and spend most of my time either making, downloading or organizing stuff for The Sims 2, which I rarely actually PLAY. Also, roleplaying (currently, in two different games) the parts of a gay angel, an embittered ex-succubus and the son of a highly disreputable comic book character. *Hides*

Even if I had words I am not sure I could explain Why Wilco. I mean, really.

But I just listen. And I look at the comments that are like OH THEY'RE JUST ANOTHER HIPSTER BAND WRITING SELF-INDULGENT SONGS ABOUT HOW DISCONNECTED AND ALONE THEY ARE.

And they make me want to cry. Because I listen to them -- and all the history that goes into making them who they are, sonically -- and I believe two things:

-- That rock and roll can save the world; and

-- that the world is worth saving.

And come on. It's just a band.

Augh, I like Tarzan too. It's so horribly cheesy, but for some reason... D:

Pfft, I own Tarzan and I love it.. I have a whole collection of Disney movies and I'm sure a bunch of them make me cry.

Also, I'm 27 years old and sometimes I watch Hannah Montana.

/shrug! It is what it is, lol! I love my "guilty" pleasures :)

I am reeeally not a weepy person. I don't cry at books or TV ever, and usually not at movies either - but the song Once Upon a December, from the not-Disney-but-close-enough movie Anastasia, chokes me up. Every time. I DON'T KNOW WHY. I have been known to be choked up by it when it was sung by a terrible chorus of fourth-graders, that is how bad it is!

It's that bit at the end of the number where she dances with Nicholas' ghost. ;)

Ohhhh yes. *sheepish* Totally heartwrenchy.

But I think it's the music, too - like, I don't visualize the scene or anything when I hear it. Just the tune is inherently sad enough or something for me!

I love Chris de Burgh. I hate Lady in Red, but that is one of the few.

On the Disney kick: I love Road to El Dorado. And all its Elton John Glory.

Don't look at me like that...i

[identity profile] mcity.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it was awesome. Dreamworks, though, not Disney. Dreamworks animation has been better at making Disney movies than Disney, lately.

I cried in Titanic when Jack died.

Just a little.

I ♥ Sex and the City. And I hate myself for it. :/

I have seen The Backstreet Boys in concert. Twice.

...also NSync. Twice.

AND I HAVE T-SHIRTS. AND I STILL WEAR THEM. AND I AM 24. AND I GOT UPSET WHEN KEVIN QUIT THE BSB. REALLY UPSET.

REALLY.

Really seriously. This icon? KEVIN'S SHOES.
