(no subject)

Seminar was long, but pretty awesome; I went with a view to accumulating nuggets that I could trot out in an interview one day, but left with a burning desire for fic about the Royal Dublin Society, the Trinity College Geological Museum (located in the late 1700s, of course, above the front arch in Regent House), and a young firebrand of a student named Stephen Maturin.

I know nothing about either the Royal Dublin society or the Trinity College Geological Museum, but anything with the phrase "young firebrand of a student named Stephen Maturin" gives me a deep and fierce happy.

He even would have been there right around the time the Royal Irish Academy was founded. SCHISMS! He did canonically fight about a score of duels while he was a TCD student...

I love that bit - how he thinks fighting twenty duels in a year is quite normal.

His poor student colleagues.
