Because it's due on the 15th? I have my time pretty much blocked out until then, and I can't really afford to take a whole day off to make the trip to Birmingham, where this thing is on.

Is there any way you could ask for an extension because you think the tour will help with your essay?

I'd say to just have your essay done early, but I for one have never, and presumably will never, finished any schoolwork prior to about three minutes before it's due.

It won't help, unfortunately. While both my essay and this tour are super relevant to my interests and to my reasons for being in the field, they actually manage to have almost zero overlap (except in the broadest sense of 'not being dicks). D:

Also dflkjsd right? I mean, I procrastinated a bit, but I still gave myself juuust enough time to do sufficient reading/writing. Now the universe is just fucking with me.

Maybe you should find the tour leaders' addresses, write to them and explain why you're interested and that you're unable to make it. Then you can get into a correspondence with them and learn just as much as you would have at the tour!
