It's so incredibly lame of me, but I still get a little verklempt when, in Star Trek: First Contact, Vulcan #1 takes down his hood, gives The Sign, and tells Zephram Cochrane to "Live long, and prosper."
And then they do a wide shot of Cochrane offering his hand for a handshake, and Vulcan #1 tentatively taking it, and oh, Star Trek.

I realized a few years ago that I could be alive in 2060, when that movie is set. I'd be very old, but hey. Maybe I can has Vulcans. :-P

It's just this fantastic, utterly context-dependent moment of OH MY GOD, THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTS. THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTS.
I can't say it any better than that.

(And then they bring the Vulcans in and give them a drink. ♥)

I will watch some more of my FCE training video. I have hated the teacher from the start, for some reason, so I spend more time analyzing that than actually concentrating on what I'm supposed to learn. Which means re-watching. Which means more grinding of teeth. Anyway, by the time I get through all that you will likely be finished. :D?

I have it for all the planning comms I am a member of now, and it relieves my mind greatly.
