Okay! I have achieved Starbucks. Aaaand I am here for the next six hours, and as we know, the rules of the road are boring enough that it is tempting to just kill pedestrians rather than learn them by rote.

Therefore: entertain me.

Any fun and esoteric driving laws in Ireland?

[personal profile] muji 2008-09-18 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
In MD, you can drive on the shoulder on a street that is one lane in each direction if someone is stopping in front of you to make a left. I thought that was pretty normal until my out-of-state friends thought I was a crazy person.

[personal profile] stained_glass 2008-09-18 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember in Galway my father and my uncle arguing once over which of them was sober enough to drive, and one of our neighbours pointed out that the policeman was in fact unconscious in the pub's flower bed.

Otherwise to entertain, there is a glorious AofS RPG that desperately needs more Aubreyad characters... ¬¬

The canon is terrifyingly huge. All of my copies are now full of earmarked, and I have a fat notebook full of biographical details/opinions/important quotes/attitudes to the various. The most difficult thing is that PO'B does things like, "Stephen spoke with the clerk about intelligence matters" or "Stephen apologised" or "Stephen made conversation on the subject of petrels" but I actually have to write what he is saying most of the the time.

The plot though, OMG, the plot. In-Game plot has spyhatting and attempted murders and Hakeswill and angst like nothing I have experienced, and then, among various out-of-game stories, a group including Stephen and the Duke of Wellington are attempting to overthrow the White Witch in Narnia. I could EAT this RPG I love it so much.

I honestly think I feel romantic feelings towards the Aubreyad sometimes. It makes me glow with love.

All I have learned about medicine/classical music/Portugal/animals that I did not learn from the Aubreyad proper I have learnt doing research for this game.

The essay on Evagrius Ponticus that I was MEANT TO HAND IN IN JUNE remains unfinished. But I know how long it would take someone on a horse to canter from Obidos to Lisbon! And that the Torre de Belem was used as a hospital by Wellington's army! And LINNAEAN TAXONOMY!

[personal profile] stained_glass 2008-09-18 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Evagrius Ponticus would be totally boring. He would be all "Do not visualise God when you pray! Because he is a DEMON! Temptation, nuuuu!" Then again, awesome interaction with the GO lot.

There would be no point - we do one essay a week. The only constant figure is Jesus.

Ha!

To be honest, I am actually using what I've learnt for Stephen - he's not a theologian, but he knows more than enough to keep me bust with. The Catholicism really helps. And Michaelmas term I did several papers of natural theology, which with natural philosophy with some added implications.

This is the thought process behind my on again off again thought of picking up a French lit pup, but I'm at a loss as to whom.

*snort* xD

I was really kind of feeling that (after Eisenheim) my next pup should be a villain.

My friend continues to ply me for Jafar, but I waffle.

*hyperventilates* That icon. That's practically enough incentive right there.

Except I'd have to reread for like a year. *weeps*

I don't wanna edit this book review before class. I am le tired. LE TIRED.

Hey, if our economy spirals out more, would you mind if I come across the pond to live on your floor for a while? I don't eat much! I'm cute! I'll get a pub job!

Hey, I keep offering to rule the world and fix all these problems, but NOOOOO. Blah blah blah, power corrupts. Blah blah blah, worldly examples in Alexander and Napoleon. But I'd totally share power and listen to advisors!

*kicks American business in the shins*

Greedy bastards!

Urg. I am off to print things and go to class. Blarg, I say!

Since I am, uh... obviously distractable from studying, and if you are Google Docs-enabled from work, I am not averse to starting That Thing.

[identity profile] unravels.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I... think so? Am back and forth from my desk today, but on the upside the 3 other people who share the space with me have left now. What to I need to do? It let me in to beforethestorm... Should I start a new doc or have you started one?

Back upstairs for a minute - will check when I get back! \o/

I have not started one! Although, also worth mentioning: I am for bed in about two hours, one of which I will be spending watching last night's Bones. SO, maybe if you are around tonight, you could start one and like... start sketching/outlining some of the things you want in there? And then I will be around tomorrow night, so we can start getting our hands dirty. *waggles eyebrows*

[identity profile] unravels.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok - I will see how it goes! I'll make a google doc from there and will see what I can come up with and we will worry about linking later. Am already disturbed, ftr.

I was tempting myself to go to Starbucks yesterday and had just convinced myself NO, when you posted this.

I ended up in the Dundrum one for three hours. Just me, coffee, a muffin, and my copy of The Amber Spyglass (complete with coloured sticky notes and a highlighter).

And then I came home and did... pretty much nothing, so I have to write two chapters today (about 9-10,000 words sjfhdajfhjdfhjd).

I'VE DONE THIS BEFORE. I CAN DO IT AGAIN. ...I HOPE. @_@
