So! I saw Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. It was, um. Special. Particularly the ending. I just... I would love to meet the kind of person who wakes up in the middle of the night and goes "I've got it! I know what would be the perfect way to end this film!" and then... does that.

Anyway.

Time for a power-nap, I feel.

Really? When I read the book(same ending, says Wikipedia), I thought the ending was a cop-out. I can see how it's appropriate to the character, but it doesn't make for much of a story.

The ending didn't bother me nearly as much as the far-too-long orgy scene.

I'm a freak and loved the ending and the orgy. Uhhh.... what? Don't look at me like that.

I think it's because I'm very much a fan of the 'I love something so much I have to destroy it' types of things, which this movie pretty much entirely was.

Also: How visually amazing was this film? (this is a question to both of you, but I responded to Karen because she brought up orgies first. Tramp.)

I didn't mind the orgy -- in fact I really thought it was an amazing turn of events, because I thought the final perfume would cause envy and not ecstasy -- I just think it went on too long. It snippeth the strings of my disbelief.

As for visually amazing:

Stunning. There's really no other word for it. There were times when I was sure that I could smell things the movie was just showing me. And yes, I do realize how retarded that sounds.
